The Driving Test was first started in Britain on 1st June 1935, due to the number of casualties on the UK roads. Examiners were recruited mainly from the services and Police. The Driving Test was suspended during the war (1939-46). The motor vehicle boom of the mid-fifties resulted in more new examiners recruited to fill the many vacancies.
The Motorcycle Driving Test which consists of a theory and practical test is designed to ensure that new riders are sufficently competent to ride a motorcycle safely on British roads. Scotti Knights provide the full compliment of motorcycle rider tuition from Compulsory Basic Training (CBT), to ensure that new riders are certified as competent
bikes, mopeds and protective apparel is also available.
Initial CBT training is conducted at a private tarmaced location suitable for the safety and privacy of the new rider. Our instructors are trained to understand the needs of novice motorcyclists and those who may find the task daunting.
All learner motorcyclists and moped riders must satisfactorily complete CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) before riding on the road. There are some special exemptions, for further information speak to a qualified CBT instrctor.
The CBT training normally takes between 6 and 8 hours and in certain circumstances can be spread accross more than one day. The course covers 5 main topics which are described in our CBT introduction section.
The instructor will explain the process of obtaining a licence and will also describe what options are available to you once you have obtained you first full licence.
Scotti Knights operate from Sale in the South manchester and Chesire area but are happy to accept riders from the North West of England and surrounding counties.
